Correcting Form I-9, Section 1

Correct Section 1 (Send Form Back to Employee)

Only the new hire is able to correction Section 1 of the I-9 Form.  Below are the steps to send a request to the employee to make any needed corrections.

1. Select the Correct Section 1 (send to employee) option from the Make Changes drop-down list when viewing the Internal Task for Form I-9, Section 2.

2. On the Correct Form I-9, Section 1 page, type a message explaining to the new hire why the task of filling out Section 1 of the I-9 Form is being re-opened and what items need to be reviewed/corrected.

Note:  If the individual ha already been terminated, Section 1 of the form cannot be updated.  Instead, type an explanation of the error in the provided text box for record keeping purposes.

3. Click the OK button.

Result:  The notification is sent to the new hire and the respective task in the Onboarding Portal is re-opened for corrections.
