Onboarding
backYou can have an unlimited number of templates in ExponentHR, but it’s a good idea to have a default template. That way, if an employee falls outside of any of your eligibility rules—for example, salary, hourly, California driver, etc.—they will fall into the catch-all template.
Template Setup
The first step is to configure your default template, and then configure specific, unique templates from the default.
In the example below, an offer letter to a salaried employee differs from a letter to an hourly employee. Because of these differences, two different templates are needed, each associated with a respective pay type.
Onboarding Setup
Most organizations have different job codes and tasks, making different templates needed for different groups.
Notice how the fourth template in the example is using both location codes and job codes to present a California driver with the onboarding portal and tasks associated with that location and job.
On the Onboarding Setup screen, click New Template to access the Apply To tab. Your next option is to select pre or post-hire to initiate. Consider if this template can only be used for people before their hire dates or for tasks that apply only after their hire dates.
Below you’ll see the different filter types. This is where you can create a unique template for every different new hire packet that you have.
If you’ve previously submitted all the basic information about an employee—their company, work location, department, and division—that information will be displayed here where you can access all of the available options. And remember, you can combine different options like we did with the California driver above. For example, if it’s people in a particular company within a particular department, you can use them together.
Specify your desired filters, select Save and you’re done!
